The June breakup of rock heavyweights Creed has turned out to be good news for Kamloops.

Former lead singer Scott Stapp is in Barriere and Kamloops filming a music video to start off his solo career.

His first solo single, Relearn Love, features The Tea Party and will be released on a compilation CD filled with songs inspired by Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

"They're filming through Circle Productions which has filmed here in the past," said regional film commission director Vicci Weller. Though Weller is keeping the whereabouts of the film crew a close-guarded secret, she will say the video features much of landscape ravaged by last summer's wildfires.

A tip for Creed fans, guitarist Mark Tremonti along with drummer Scott Phillips have teamed up to produce their own group Alter Bridge. Their album hit stores Tuesday and the first single is entitled One Day Remains.

"They particularly liked the burned-out areas . . . Who would have thought?"

Meanwhile, a miniseries entitled Miss Texas is being filmed in and around Kamloops and segments were recently shot at the Kamloops airport. Filming will continue around Ashcroft and at the Douglas Lake Ranch.

Miss Texas is a Canadian and German co-production and tells the story of a German journalist who has to write a story about ranching.
